Where can we go?

This term children in Reception will be Geographers as we explore our new enquiry, 'Where Can We Go?' The children will be introduced to maps and draw maps themselves for familiar areas and routes. We will explore our school environment and then look at our local area outside of school. The children will make links with our RE big question: 'Which places are special?' and visit St Anne's church. Our challenge at the end of term will be to plan and go on a local area walk.

We will be reading Mr Gumpy's Outing, Duck in the Truck and Naughty Bus. The children will now be applying their phonics skills to write simple sentences. By the end of term the children will have been taught all Phase 1 and 2 sounds and will have chance to read and write using these sounds in phonics and with their home reading book. 

In maths, the children will be exploring numbers up to 10 and will practise adding and subtracting within 10.
